That's an easy buy. 80% of the charm of an old jeep or landie or g wagon for 10% of the cost. Looks great besides the front seats and would be a lot of fun on trail

You gotta do it :) Take it now before someone buys it as a 1st car and leaves it to rust.

I owned one of these for 5 years (four door though). As long as they’re not rotten, they are very reliable. Note, the 4ZD1 2.3L is carbureted, less powerful than the 4ZE1 2.6L that came a year later, and ironically uses more fuel. The Engine will have the "4ZD1" and a number (1 through 5) on the back of the cylinder head - hard to see without a mirror. If you have something greater than "1", then the head has been replaced at least once - common, as they had a tendency to crack. check for coolant tin the oil and for oil in the coolant. If you find neither, you're probably going to be fine. Also, clean, grease and set the clearances on the front bearings - they're shimmed and will spin and destroy the front spindles if the bearings are not set correctly.

Holy shit if that were anywhere near St. Louis, I’d buy it immediately.

My cousin had an 89 with 300K on the clock. It was an absolute workhorse.

My dad had a 4 door one of those, but I think he had the V6. It was an awful turd, despite the immaculate care my dad takes of all his cars its engine blew at 70k miles. He dropped coin to get it rebuilt, then it blew again at 110k.
I loved that car as a little kid, but damn what a lemon.
